Wesley Carter "Wes" Welker (born May 1, 1981) is an American football wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He has also played for the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins. Welker played college football at Texas Tech.

Welker caught 11 passes for 103 yards in Super Bowl XLII, tying the Super Bowl record for most receptions in a game. Welker starts 2011 strong: Patriots WR Wes Welker started the 2011 campaign off right in Week 1 against the Dolphins. He caught eight passes for 160 yards with two touchdowns in the 38-24 win. He caught his first score in the third quarter when he and QB Tom Brady connected on a 2-yard pass. Then in the fourth quarter with New England backed up in their own territory, Brady hit Welker on a 99-yard scoring strike, matching the NFL record. "When I saw the coverage as we lined up, I knew there was a strong possibility I could be getting the ball," Welker said. "I just wanted to make the most of the opportunity."
